A Successful Clean Up Australia Day Print E-mail

Scouts across NSW flocked to their local parks and beaches on Sunday, March 6 for Clean Up Australia Day, picking up rubbish around 111 sites altogether and equalling their record from last year.

State Commissioner for the Environment, Bill Pickering joined 1st Lilli Pilli Sea Scout Group in their mission to get their area looking spick and span, and they even managed to make it to the front page of the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader.

1st Balmain Scout Group also made a strong effort, collecting a total of 58 garbage bags full of rubbish (pictured above).

"This has been a great result which has achieved an enormous amount of awareness of Scouting and the Environment Section in meeting the requirements of the Strategic Plan, creating strong two way sustainable partnerships, being a benchmark for others to follow, and showing that we are here to help!" Bill Pickering said after the event.
