It's coming up to that time of year again where your Scout Group can get involved in McHappy Day and help a great cause!

This year's event held on Saturday October 17, will be the ninth year Scouts Australia has partnered up with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) to raise funds for seriously ill children and their families.

In 2014, more than 3,500 Scouts and a total of 116 Scout Groups participated in the day at McDonald's restaurants across Australia, and we would love to see even bigger numbers this year!

Who Are We Helping?

McHappy Day is the biggest annual fundraising campaign for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), and this year they are aiming to raise $3.4 million. 100 per cent of all money raised on McHappy Day goes directly to RMHC to support its programs like Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Learning Program across Australia.

What Will Scouts be Doing?

Similar to last year, we are asking Scout Groups to assist McDonald’s Crew in collecting money for RMHC either at their local McDonald’s restaurant during McHappy Day 2015 or through independent fundraising.

What Will Scouts Receive?

In return for Scouts Australia’s participation in McHappy Day 2015, McDonald’s will provide each Scout Group with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ for their efforts. McDonald’s has also suggested that Groups can promote their activities and Group via the McDonald’s community notice boards available at each store.

Groups Conducting Private Fundraising Events

While we encourage all Groups to participate in fundraising events in conjunction with the McDonald’s restaurants, those Groups who don’t live near a restaurant (or who don’t want to go to a McDonald’s restaurant) are entitled to conduct their own fundraising event to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Groups also have the opportunity to conduct independent fundraising activities to benefit a Ronald McDonald House near them. However, participation in independent fundraising activities is at the discretion of the RMHC House in question. Scout Groups will need to contact the House before undertaking any activity.

While conducting independent fundraising events Groups will need to do the following:
