|November Scout of the Month Winner!|
It's time to announce the winner of the November round of Scout of the Month...
Congratulations Finn Ambrose from 1st Waitara Joey Mob!
Finn has been selected as this month's winner for pushing to reach his community service goals, even when an unsuspected injury made things tough.
Here is Finn's nomination description from his District Joey Leader:
I recently presented a Joey Scout Promise Challenge Award to Finn Ambrose from 1st Waitara Joey Mob. I consider Finn deserving of the Scout of the Month Award for the manner in which he completed the Community Service component of the challenge.
For the service component of his challenge Finn decided to collect rubbish along Coal and Candle Creek in Kuring-Gai Chase National Park. He and his Mum hired a canoe and paddled up the creek. Whenever Finn observed rubbish on the foreshore he climbed out of the canoe to collect it.
Unfortunately, just before he completed the task and at one of the last stops, Finn slipped and gashed his leg on oyster shells. His Mother rushed him to hospital where he had 13 stitches. Finn then immediately returned to Coal and Candle Creek to complete the clean-up.
Finn’s determination to complete the task despite his injury and the need to travel many kilometres to and from hospital exemplifies the scouting spirit. Finn’s actions should be an example to all of us. It is especially impressive from such a young Scout.
Finn has done a wonderful job and will receive a Scout of the Month certificate and prize package for his amazing efforts!
Congratulations once again!
