Lone Joeys

The NSW Lones Scout Group, which began in 1915, offers Scouting to young people who want to participate in Scouting and who cannot get along to a regular Scout Group every week.

Members of Lones Joey Scouts usually live in remote or isolated farms, small towns or islands – or they might be travelling around Australia or suffering from a chronic illness or disability. Generally, Lones Joey Scouts must live at least 12 km from the nearest Scout Group with a Joey Scout Mob.

The Lones Joey Scout Mob operates like a distance learning group with:

  • Weekly programs
  • Fun activities – games, nature, stories, singing, dance, drama, learning and sense activities, imagination and discovery.
  • Learning through participation in enjoyable activities
  • Introduction to simple Scouting skills
  • Holiday at home activities
  • Overnight Joey Scout Mob activities
  • And ‘hands-on’ parental involvement.

Activities are designed to be as similar as possible to those of regular Mobs.
