Lone Scouts

The NSW Lones Scout Group, which began in 1915, offers Scouting to young people who want to participate in Scouting and who cannot get along to a regular Scout Group every week.

Members of Lones Scouts usually live in remote or isolated farms, small towns or islands – or they might be travelling around Australia or suffering from a chronic illness or disability. Generally, Lones Scouts must live at least 12 km from the nearest Scout Group with a Scout Troop.

The Lones Scout Troop operates like a distance learning group with:

  • Weekly programs with fun activities – games, nature, stories, singing, dance, drama, learning and sense activities, imagination and discovery.
  • Overnight and holiday Scout Troop meetings and activities.

Activities are designed to be as similar as possible to those of regular Troops or Sections.
