Information for Applicants

The Family Support Fund aims to provide assistance for young people living in NSW, who are aged 6 to 18 years of age, and are in a situation of financial strain. Rovers and young Leaders in genuine need are also eligible to apply.

Funding is available for both current members and new members wishing to join Scouting.

Grants will assist in meeting the typical expense of Scouting including membership fees, uniform and activity costs typically for a period of 12 months.

There is also an expectation that recipients attend regularly and participate in a group based fundraising activity, to make a small contribution towards annual costs.

Successful applicants are also asked to share how the Family Support Fund has a made a positive impact on their lives. A simple explanation of 100 words shared twice a year (6 months) is sufficient. This information will be shared with our Donors but identities of recipients will not be divulged.

Grants run for 12 months. If you find you still need assistance at the conclusion of a grant period, you are welcome to reapply.

Supporting Young Leaders and Rovers

The Family Support Fund also provides funding for young people who are training to be Leaders, but are not yet financially independent. In this case the applicant can be over 18 years of age. However, to qualify, they must be in genuine financial need.

Our Leaders are a vital component to delivering the Scout Program and our young leaders, in particular, are integral to delivering challenging, vibrant, youth-led activities.

Scouts NSW wishes to show its support for our young people who continue to deliver service to the Scouting Community, so has made funding available through the Family Support Fund to provide assistance for young Leaders.

Rovers in genuine financial need may also qualify for assistance.

How to Apply

Applying for a Grant is easy. Simply download and complete the relevant form provided in the Application Form.

You will be asked to provide contact details, information on your financial situation, assistance from your Group/District and Region, and your involvement within the nominated Scout Group

Applications can be submitted online by emailing your signed form to the email address provided or by post to the return address supplied.

Your application will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and only the Family Support Fund Management Committee and your Group Leader will have access to your information (Crew Leader if a Rover)

Applications will take approximately three to four weeks to process and you can choose to be advised either by email or post.
