Congratulations to all Australians recognised in the 2021 Australia Day Honours List for service to their communities!
We especially congratulate Patricia Fortier, Fellowship Member at Central Coast Gang Show Scout Fellowship, honoured for her service to youth through Scouts, and to the community. Patricia was awarded an OAM - Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division. Her Scouting journey began as an Assistant Scout Leader in 1991, before taking on various leadership positions in the Gosford District and Hunter and Coastal Region.
We also congratulate Jeffery Harrison, Honorary Commissioner at Scouts NSW. Jeffery was also awarded a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his contribution to Scouts and his wider community. Jeffery joined Scouts at the age of seven and went on to become an Assistant Cub Scout Leader at 18 before taking on various adult appointments. Now an Honorary Commissioner, he said his enjoyment as a child was what prompted him to continue contributing to Scouts. When speaking to The Daily Advertiser about this recognition and involvement in Scouting, Jeffery said, “I enjoyed myself so much when I was a youth and I suppose I took on life skills and enjoyed myself, so I thought it was a good time to at least give that opportunity to other youth."
BRAVO Patricia and Jeffery! Thank you for the part you play in developing young people and strengthening our Scouting community!
