Looking to share your governance knowledge and skills with NSW’s leading youth organisation? Thousands of young people participate in Scouts across NSW, and the opportunity is now open for skilled individuals to seek appointment to the role of Scouts NSW Branch Council Vice President.
Scouts NSW Board of Directors invites suitable candidates to submit an Expression of Interest, including a Statement of Intent, for the Scouts NSW Branch Council Vice President position.
The Candidate
Candidates must be aged 18 years or older and be eligible to hold a current Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
The successful candidate will embody the values and ethos of Scouting, and have a strong ability to connect with the perspectives of the young people who are at the centre of Scouts NSW.
The successful candidate is required to sign a letter of appointment that recognises their commitment to the values and ideals of Scouting, including the Scout Promise and Law.
The Branch Council Vice President is also required to abide by the Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics for Adults in Scouting.
Scouts NSW welcomes and encourages expressions of interest from all members of our diverse community and will consider all EOIs that it receives.
Commitment
As Branch Council Vice President, you will be expected to:
- Attend the Scouts NSW Branch Council Annual General Meeting;
- Attend Scouts NSW Branch Council Special General Meetings, should they be called;
- Attend Scouts NSW Branch Council Forums, held 1-2 times per year;
- Comfortably act as a public advocate/representative for Scouts NSW, including participating in National forums when required;
- Be willing and able to act as President of Scouts NSW Branch Council Meetings (as listed above) in the absence of the Branch President, should the need arise.
The election of Branch Council Vice President will be conducted by a direct vote of the Branch Council, once the nominations have been recommended by the Board, and prior to the Scouts NSW 2022 AGM.
The expected time commitment, on average, is approximately 3 – 4 hours a month in addition to attending the meetings set out above.
Branch Councillors are not remunerated by Scouts NSW.
Term of office
The term of the Branch Council Vice President appointment will be for a three (3) year period and will be announced at the 2022 AGM.
