In 2023 access to technology for education, connection and digital capability is more important than ever.
Recently, Macquarie Group generously donated a number of laptops to Scouts NSW that will see both youth members and volunteer leaders enabled with the technology to connect in an increasingly digital world.
A Macquarie Group employee who is also a member of Rover Scouts initiated the conversation that led to the donation. When Macquarie upgraded their business laptops, they identified a fabulous opportunity to repurpose the good condition technology to those who otherwise may not be in a position to afford a new or upgraded device of their own, by donating the devices to Scouts NSW.
Chief Commissioner of Scouts NSW Lloyd Nurthen is delighted that Scouts NSW are able to allocate these laptops to their youth members and volunteer leaders across the whole state, to assist in overcoming the financial barriers that may exist for some members or groups in accessing technology.
“Whether it is for a youth member to use for their own schooling or helping Leaders and supporters to run STEM activities in program and undertake administrative duties, we understand the importance of access to technology, and the barriers that may exist for some of our members.” Lloyd said. “This donation will go a great way to supporting our members and volunteers.”
Members of Scouts NSW who would like to complete an expression of interest for one of these devices can do so here.
Scouts NSW is grateful for the generous donation and shares their thanks with Macquarie Group.
