President
John’s professional life in politics began when he entered State politics in 1984. In March that year he was elected as Member of the NSW Legislative Assembly and Member for Waratah. Over the course of his political career, John has served as Shadow Minister for Public Works, Shadow Minister for State Committees and was Chairman of Committees from 1995-1999. In 1999 he won the marginal seat of Maitland and carried out this role, and the position of Deputy Speaker until 2007 when he retired from politics.
John’s passion for serving the community is attributed to his involvement in Scouts. He first joined Scouts NSW as a Cub Scout at the age of 7 and has been involved in Scouting ever since, some 75 years. For over 50 of those years, John has been involved as an adult Leader and Supporter. In 2004 John was elected as a Life Councillor, in 2016 he was elected as Vice President and in 2019, as President.
Kerryn Boland PSM

Kerryn recently completed her 12-year tenure as NSW Children’s Guardian, where she worked with stakeholders across diverse industry sectors to develop, implement and foster child safe practices and systems, and achieve high-reliability organisations. Prior to joining the Office of the Children’s Guardian, Kerryn worked in regulatory and governance systems, employee and volunteer probity assessment, workplace relations, human rights and child protection. She is a qualified lawyer, with over 20 years’ experience as a CEO and Senior Executive in the NSW Public Service.
Kerryn held the position of Non-Executive Director on the Scouts NSW Board for 5 years from July 2017 to July 2022 and was elected to the role of Vice-President on 16 July 2022, being the first female to hold this position.
