Name: Amy Mills
Role in Scouts: Cub Scout Leader
Day Job: Director - Early Childhood Teacher
Hobbies and Interests: I love spending time with my family and friends, camping, hiking, travelling, cooking, and reading.
Favourite moment in Scouting: Presenting a very dear friend with his Wood Badge. We had been Scouting together for many years and seeing his journey to his achievement was so very special.
What inspired you to work with youth members? I was a youth member in the movement and I thoroughly enjoyed my time and experiences. I felt that it would be only natural to return the service and become a leader and share the wonderful Scouting opportunities with many more young people.
What key thing has a youth member said to you that has stayed with you? "That was the best camp ever! I had so much FUN!!" after his first Cub camp.
Why did you become a Youth Safe Advocate? I believe that every child deserves a champion. Some one that they can go to and feel safe with, whilst being heard and who will provide them with support.
Why is the Youth Safe Advocate scheme important for Scouts NSW? To demonstrate that we are a committed and proactive organsiation in ensuring best practice around Child Safe Standards at all levels.
What is the key message you would everyone to remember about the Youth Safe Advocate scheme? The Youth Safe Advocates scheme is an ongoing commitment by adults in Scouting to keep young people safe. We are here to help all our members feel safe, supported and protected.
