Type of Challenge:
This is an Individual or Patrol Challenge. Each member of your Patrol must complete this challenge and you must submit a video of each machine in action.
Resources Required:
- Anything you have at your house
- Planks of wood
- Dominoes
- Rope/ string/ ribbon
- Balls/ Marbles/ tennis balls
- Anything around you that can create momentum
Challenge Description:
A Rube Goldberg machine is a chain reaction-type machine or contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way. Usually, these machines consist of a series of simple unrelated devices; the action of each triggers the initiation of the next, eventually resulting in achieving a stated goal. For example, the final goal is to push a matchbox car into plastic bottle knocking it over.
The idea is to be creative. You can build the machine as individuals but film it as a continuing chain reaction.
Evidence Submission:
To complete this challenge, you need to collect from each member, a video of the Rube Goldberg machine – either submit as one continuing challenge from member to member or individually.
