Meet our Youth Safe Advocates – Erin

Name: Erin Dunbar

Role in Scouts: Group Leader at 1st Camden South Scout Group

Day Job: Primary School Teacher

Hobbies and Interests: I enjoy sending time with my children and doing activities with my Scout group.

Favourite moment in Scouting: My favourite moment is Scouting so far is seeing both of my children complete their Joey Peak Awards.

What inspired you to work with youth members?  I have always enjoyed working with youth especially in environments where I can connect with them and make a difference in their lives. I love working with youth especially when they can't do something or they don't understand something and I can guide them to their "light bulb" moment, when they realise that they can do it. They end up with the biggest smile on their face that they just can't wipe off.

Why did you become a Youth Safe Advocate? At the age of 15 I became a leader at camps for disadvantaged children. Since then I have seen so many children at camps, within Scouts, and within my profession that need to feel safe and know that there is someone they can turn to if they need to talk.
